It was worth driving out to Melanie and TJ’s home in Van Vleck, Texas for their engagement session because they were able to relax in a place where they feel most comfortable. And, as a special treat, they were able to include their four dogs in the session – quite the challenge but so fun! I was excited when I found out they live on a grass farm and it proved to be a beautiful place with beautiful spots everywhere, including an area with pecan trees. They were so sweet to each other and I couldn’t wait for the wedding!

I always love shooting in new locations which is how we started Dawn and Ryan’s engagement session. And even more than shooting in new locations, I love using quirky little spots and creating fun locations. And I’m so thankful that Dawn and Ryan allowed me to try different things and play around with the ideas. I loved that they brought their kanine kiddos to be included, too!!
A few words from Dawn and Ryan:
What was your favorite part of the session? Our favorite part of the session was getting to take some pictures with our dogs. We could never imagine doing this ourselves as they like to go off in three different directions. So we were very happy to get the whole family in the picture.
What were you looking forward to the most? We were excited to see how the caricatures would fit into the photos. It’s a tradition of ours to get these done in all of the places we visit, so they have special meaning to us.
When you look at the pictures, how do they make you feel? They make us feel fantastic because it makes our wedding day seem that much closer and that much more real!
Which one is your favorite image? The one where you were taking the picture from above while in the parking lot of the place that we consider “our” place.
Any recommendations or advice to future engagement-session clients? (i.e. relax more, bring more clothing options, get hair and make-up done, laugh more….) It’s best to just be yourselves and relaxed from the beginning of the session. We got that way toward the end of our session and the photos came out great!

It’s been quite a while since I’d shot an engagement session in Bryan/College Station and I was looking forward to trying some new things. I was also especially looking forward to working with Kendall and Grant after reading their questionnaires which really painted an accurate picture of them and their relationship. We started at the Texas Hall of Fame which is where they met one night when they went out dancing. Then we finished up in downtown Bryan, Texas and walked around taking pictures in the area. By the end of the session I was getting very excited about their first dance at their wedding but I’ll have to wait until December to see it.
I love hearing people’s thoughts and reactions to the session and I’m so very thankful that both Kendall and Grant submitted their responses, thanks!
*What was your favorite part of the session?
K: I loved every moment of the session. It was a great bonding experience for Grant and I, as well as getting to know Dianna along the way. It was a day that was filled with happiness, love and many smiles.
G: Spending time with each other and enjoying ourselves. We tried to treat the photo session as if it were another outing, so our love could be captured in a natural manner. It seemed to work out well!
*What were you looking forward to the most?
K: Actually getting to see the pictures! I was so anxious to see them because I knew that they would turn out wonderful after seeing others pictures that Dianna had done previously.
G: How the pictures came out! Seeing Dianna’s previous work, we were both so excited to see how our pictures turned out and show them to our friends and family. I kept asking Kendall, “Has Dianna emailed you yet?” or, “It’s been three weeks, maybe you should email her and ask.”
*When you look at the pictures, how do they make you feel?
K:Warm and fuzzy on the inside. I love beginning able to see our love in the tangible form and expressed through these pictures that we will treasure for the rest of our lives together.
G: Timeless; that our love is forever captured. Long after we are gone, these pictures will serve as a relic to the eternal love that we shared for each other.
*Which one is your favorite image?
K: My favorite image is the one of us sitting on the ground with the sunlight around us. I am in his arms which is my favorite place to be.
G: It’s hard to pick just one. My favorite would either have to be the dancing picture (at the place we first met), or us sitting in the alleyway picture with the sun beaming in. They both really capture important aspects of our relationship: fun and romance.
*Any recommendations or advice to future engagement-session clients?
K: I would recommend to future engagement session clients to just enjoy the moment. It is a great memory that will be cherished between each other and the love will show in the pictures.
G: Relax! Dianna has a great artistic eye, so don’t worry about how you look or what Dianna has up her sleeve. Enjoy yourself and remember this as one of your “firsts” as a soon-to-be proclaimed union.

We actually started Amber and Walker’s engagement session in the Woodlands at Dosey Doe’s (where they like to go listen to their favorite band) and then ended somewhere up by….New Waverly?? I’m not really sure, I just kept following them until we finally stopped. But they wanted to go to their land for part of their session because it’s a special place for them. And I was also excited that we would be able to let the dogs loose during that part. I wanted to know more about how they felt about the engagement session:
What was your favorite part of the session? Going to places that we enjoy together made it easy and relaxing!
What were you looking forward to the most? We were looking forward to having some good pictures of us together to put up in our house…now we have plenty!!
When you look at the pictures, how do they make you feel? Happy; a reflection of how much we love each other.
Which one is your favorite image? We love the one where we are walking away from the camera and our dogs are running around us.
Any recommendations or advice to future engagement-session clients? Make it your own…go places that are meaningful to you as a couple.

I’m so excited to show you the rest of Chiharu and Andy’s engagement session! We spent the evening photographing outside of downtown Houston and then ended up over by the theaters of downtown. From the very first pictures Chiharu and Andy were relaxed, at least it seemed that way to me. I was warned that “someone” might unintentionally make stupid faces but I didn’t see anything of the sort; they were naturals and just had fun with it! They both enjoy dancing and I really wanted to integrate that into part of the session. And thanks to Laura for referring them to me!
I asked them a few questions about the pictures after they had a chance to look at them and here are their responses:
When you look at the pictures, how do they make you feel?
Andy and I love viewing the photos! We LOVE how they all turned out and every time we see them, we are just beaming with joy. Dianna really captured the love we have for each other in each of the photos and the fun we have together.
Which one is your favorite image?
It’s hard to pick just one favorite photo, so here are my top three: The picture of us dancing in front of Jones Hall, the one of us in the field and I have my arms around Andy with my eyes closed and a smile on my face, and the one of us sitting in the street and he had just said something and is making me laugh.
Any recommendations or advice to future engagement-session clients? (i.e. relax more, bring more clothing options, get hair and make-up done, laugh more….)
Just enjoy the day!! Forget the camera is there and have fun!
