The Woodlands Engagement Photography | Amber and Walker

We actually started Amber and Walker’s engagement session in the Woodlands at Dosey Doe’s (where they like to go listen to their favorite band) and then ended somewhere up by….New Waverly?? I’m not really sure, I just kept following them until we finally stopped. But they wanted to go to their land for part of their session because it’s a special place for them. And I was also excited that we would be able to let the dogs loose during that part. I wanted to know more about how they felt about the engagement session:
What was your favorite part of the session? Going to places that we enjoy together made it easy and relaxing!

What were you looking forward to the most? We were looking forward to having some good pictures of us together to put up in our house…now we have plenty!!

When you look at the pictures, how do they make you feel? Happy; a reflection of how much we love each other.

Which one is your favorite image? We love the one where we are walking away from the camera and our dogs are running around us.

Any recommendations or advice to future engagement-session clients? Make it your own…go places that are meaningful to you as a couple.

Houston Engagement Session | Chiharu and Andy

I’m so excited to show you the rest of Chiharu and Andy’s engagement session! We spent the evening photographing outside of downtown Houston and then ended up over by the theaters of downtown. From the very first pictures Chiharu and Andy were relaxed, at least it seemed that way to me. I was warned that “someone” might unintentionally make stupid faces but I didn’t see anything of the sort; they were naturals and just had fun with it! They both enjoy dancing and I really wanted to integrate that into part of the session. And thanks to Laura for referring them to me!

I asked them a few questions about the pictures after they had a chance to look at them and here are their responses:

When you look at the pictures, how do they make you feel?
Andy and I love viewing the photos!  We LOVE how they all turned out and every time we see them, we are just beaming with joy.  Dianna really captured the love we have for each other in each of the photos and the fun we have together.

Which one is your favorite image?
It’s hard to pick just one favorite photo, so here are my top three:  The picture of us dancing in front of Jones Hall, the one of us in the field and I have my arms around Andy with my eyes closed and a smile on my face, and the one of us sitting in the street and he had just said something and is making me laugh.

Any recommendations or advice to future engagement-session clients? (i.e. relax more, bring more clothing options, get hair and make-up done, laugh more….)
Just enjoy the day!!  Forget the camera is there and have fun!

Houston Engagement session | Alisa and Atwell

It was such a pleasure to photograph Alisa and Atwell for their engagement session. They were referred to me by a mutual friend and I have to thank him for sending such lovely people my way! One of Alisa and Atwell’s main requests was to make the session personalized to really bring out their personalities and that’s what I try to do with each session anyways so it worked out perfectly.

A few thoughts from Alisa and Atwell:

What was your favorite part of the session?
Alisa: I liked getting my hair and makeup done for the session!  I have never really done that and I thought I looked great!
Atwell: I liked going to the different locations.  It gave us an opportunity to show the many facets of us and our relationship.

Which part were you looking forward to the most?
Alisa: I was most looking forward to the running group pictures.  Houston Fit is how we met and we wanted pictures that show how special that is to us!
Atwell: I agree, but I still liked the cake! :-)

When you look at the pictures, how do they make you feel?
Alisa: The pictures make me feel blessed!  You captured the essence of our love and now people will be able to see that through your work!
Atwell: In addition to feeling blessed, they make me feel happy!  Laughter and fun is a key ingredient in our relationship, and the pictures captured that.

Which one is your favorite image?
Alisa: I have many favorites my top 2 are the ones with us laying down on the ground surrounded by leaves and the ones with our images reflected off of the water!  That was pretty cool!
Atwell: I agree.

Any recommendations to future engagement-session clients?
Alisa: I would recommend that future clients trust your abilities as a photographer and relax and have fun!  That is what we did and the pictures came out beyond our expectations!
Atwell: Wholeheartedly agree!! Oh yeah, and don’t look at you while you think!! :-)   (Editor’s note: it’s hard for me to think about an idea during sessions when people are staring at me – Thanks, Atwell, for not staring anymore!)

One of their favorite places to go to is the Dessert Gallery in Houston and in fact, they’re ordering their cake from there! So they ordered a piece of their cake and just had fun feeding each other. I love the colors in this place!

As mentioned, Alisa and Atwell met through a running group called Houston Fit.alisaatwellE-31b.jpg

They are both veterans: Atwell was in the Air Force and Alisa was in the Army.

Houston Engagement Session | Katrina and Kelvin

These two like to laugh and be silly! I enjoyed hearing the story of how they met because they’ve actually known each other since way back in middle school. How sweet is that? We met up for their engagement session in downtown Houston and we had the most amazing sunlight!

Houston Engagement Session | Porsha and Tyrone

If it weren’t for Facebook then I might have ever run into old high school friends. And so is the story with Porsha who I shared many high school band memories with – BFND! (Porsha, can you believe I just said that??)

Porsha and Tyrone are two of the most relaxed people! It was great to watch them enjoy hanging out and just having fun with the session. And I’d like to give a special thanks to Tyrone’s son for his help as a lighting assistant when it got dark. He did an excellent job holding that light!

I love the sun coming in from behind! porsha_tyroneE-04b.jpg
