Houston Baby Session | Baby King, 9 months

His smile is priceless! He’s a big boy with the most beautiful blue eyes and a precious laugh. We started out inside at their home and then headed to a park nearby to take advantage of the outdoor setting before it started raining. Before we know it, he’ll be a year old and I can’t wait to see him again!

Houston Maternity Photography | The Blackwells

The months and weeks leading up to the birth of a baby are such a unique time in a family’s life because there’s so much hope and expectancy….and nervousness and anticipating and just about any other emotion you can imagine! I enjoy maternity sessions because I love hearing about all the preparations that the family is going through and what theme they’ve chosen for the baby and the name game they may have gone through to pick the right one and the showers that were thrown for them, etc.

I’m excited for my old friends Leah and Layne as they have now gone through all this and at this point their little boy was born! But his pictures will come later so let’s check out Leah and Layne before their little one arrived.

Houston Engagement Photography | Erin and Devon

Erin and Devon managed to pick an absolute perfect day to do their engagement session! We started in a small field and then ended up at a special place in their neighborhood where Devon proposed to Erin – how sweet and memorable! I can’t wait for their wedding this summer!

Houston Photographer | Personal work – Alaska Part 5

Our arrival in Ketchikan was greeted by a cold hard rain. And I woke up with a bad cold. But we were bound and determined to continue with out excursion. After suiting up in rain gear we hopped on a little boat to go to an island where we would be hiking. Along the way we suddenly stopped and waited for a whale feeding that was about to happen. I quickly got my camera and snapped several shots and watched my camera get wet. So I had to keep my camera put away the rest of the excursion because of the rain so that’s it for pictures! I may have snapped a few with my point and shoot but I still have to look through those to see what I got. Our last stop was in Victoria, B.C. where we enjoyed the evening walking around the beautiful city before heading to Seattle that night.
I can’t wait to go another cruise or to get back to Alaska!

Back on the ship! We had to detour during our cruising day because of a terrible storm that was heading our way. So instead of seeing a glacier up close we enjoyed a day cruising to see fjords. And then we saw the most amazing rainbow!
We stopped in Sitka for another excursion but unfortunately I don’t have any pictures from that one because I went dry snorkeling. Yes, dry snorkeling. I didn’t know what it was either but it’s basically snorkeling while wearing a suit that allows you to wear your clothes underneath. It was my first snorkeling experience of any kind and it’s definitley something I would do again. I got to see tiny jellyfish, a school of fish, a starfish, and some other things I can’t remember.

Houston Photographer | Personal work – Alaska Part 3

We finally arrived in Juneau after a day and a half on the ship and we were excited to go on our first excursion. We ach picked our own excursion and mine wasn’t until later in the afternoon so in the meantime I went on a hike around Mendenhall Glacier. I was able to get rather close to the glacier and then kept hiking around the area. At some point I did actually see some bears but they disappeared pretty quickly. It’s not hard to believe that I also ran into an Aggie! Someone recognized my ring and started talking to me and told me that her father is an Old Ag so we shared some stories while enjoying the landscape.

When it came time to go on my excursion the rain starting coming down hard and cold. We boarded our buses and were taken to a dog sled camp. I had been so excited about this particular excursion for months because it’s such an Alaskan thing to see! After a sled ride for four of us with our musher we got to stop and meet each dog on this team. I couldn’t believe just how excited they were to run! They didn’t want to stop. Then we learned all about sled dogs, mushing, and the history of the Iditarod.
